KOSPI Drops 0.39% After Early 4% Plunge as Foreign Investors Buy on July 20

According to Korea Exchange, KOSPI fell to 6,794.29 on July 20 morning session, down 0.39% from the previous close, after opening down 2.60% and briefly plunging over 4% amid weakness in U.S. markets and Middle East tensions. Foreign investors and institutions purchased a combined 2.69 trillion won worth of stocks, while retail investors sold 2.79 trillion won, helping narrow losses. Major chipmakers Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix rebounded with gains of 0.59% and 2.39%, respectively. KOSDAQ index fell 1.90% to 776.82, with individuals and institutions buying 4.47 billion won combined.
