According to BlockBeats, Lawson, Japan's major convenience store operator, plans to test yen-denominated stablecoin payments in August at its Takanawa Gateway City store in Tokyo. HashPort has signed agreements with Lawson and KDDI to pilot the service. Users will transact via HashPort's non-custodial wallet, with merchants processing payments through HashPort's point-of-sale system without managing crypto wallets.

Japanese payment company Netstars also launched Stablecoin Pay for merchants accepting multiple stablecoins, initially supporting USDC, USDT, and JPYC on Solana and Polygon networks, with a merchant fee rate of 0.98%.
