LME Copper Falls on Strong Dollar as Fed Rate-Hold Odds Rise to 62%

XCU-0.49%
According to Jin10 Futures, on Tuesday, July 28, LME copper fell amid a stronger U.S. dollar and rising expectations for Federal Reserve interest rate decisions. Market participants are monitoring the Fed's upcoming policy announcement, with futures markets pricing in a 62% probability the central bank will maintain rates unchanged this week, versus a 38% probability of at least a 25 basis point hike—up from 16% a week prior. Higher rates could suppress industrial metal demand by constraining economic activity.
