According to Wall Street Journal, after freezing hiring for roughly one year, major U.S. companies including railroad operator CSX and Alphabet are resuming recruitment to support growth and capture emerging technology opportunities. Over the past 18 months, large employers had reduced white-collar positions due to economic uncertainty and expectations that AI could handle more work; however, executives now acknowledge AI's costs and limitations require increasing headcount.

Initial jobless claims fell to their lowest level since 1969 in the most recent week, reflecting broader labor market stabilization amid the hiring rebound.
