According to sources, Marina Tong, currently chief operating officer of HSBC Hong Kong, will assume the dual COO role at both HSBC Hong Kong and Hang Seng Bank next month following the retirement of Hang Seng's Vivien Chiu. The position will not be filled separately, consolidating the two banks' operational leadership roles into one as part of HSBC's post-privatization efficiency initiatives. Tong will oversee operations for both entities and report to HSBC's regional COO for Asia and the Middle East.
