According to a statement from France's Elysée Palace on July 13, nine European nations—Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, and Sweden—agreed with Ukraine to establish an integrated ballistic missile defense coalition. The decision followed talks in Paris between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the participating countries' leaders.
The coalition will center on Ukraine's FREYJA interception system, a low-cost alternative to U.S. Patriot missiles that incorporates battlefield experience from the ongoing conflict.
