Oman Proposes Mechanism for Joint Management of Strait of Hormuz on July 28

According to Reuters, Oman proposed a mechanism to Iran on July 28 for joint regional management of the Strait of Hormuz through voluntary contributions. The proposal, modeled after the Strait of Malacca framework, would allow stakeholders to voluntarily fund navigation management, environmental protection, and search and rescue operations. The mechanism would prevent Iran from exercising sole control over the strategic waterway and has garnered regional support.
