OpenAI Executive Fidji Simo Steps Down as Product Chief on Thursday

According to an announcement on X on Thursday, Fidji Simo, OpenAI's product and business chief, said she is stepping down from her full-time role to transition to a part-time advisor position. Simo cited the need to focus on recovery from a severe exacerbation of a chronic illness—Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), which she was diagnosed with in 2019. She had taken medical leave in April, with OpenAI President Greg Brockman assuming her product responsibilities during her absence.
