RBA Governor Says Prepared to Raise Rates Again if Needed to Combat Core Inflation

According to Yonhapinfomax, on July 28, Reserve Bank of Australia Governor Michele Bullock said the central bank is prepared to raise interest rates again if necessary to address persistently high core inflation. Speaking at a fundraising luncheon in Sydney, Bullock noted that the full effects of the monetary tightening undertaken earlier this year have yet to materialize, and additional measures may be required if current policy proves insufficient to bring inflation sustainably to target. Bullock also stated that while Middle East tensions have begun to show some economic impact, more companies are signaling intentions to pass price increases on to consumers.
