According to its 2025–2026 Advancing Blockchain Research with Real-World Impact report released today, Ripple's University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI) has expanded to more than 60 leading universities worldwide. The report highlights three key research frontiers: AI-powered financial infrastructure for automating payments and enabling autonomous agents, tokenized assets and digital markets to improve settlement times and broaden investment access, and post-quantum cryptography to secure blockchain networks against future quantum threats. The milestone reflects UBRI's strategy of pairing academic research with enterprise adoption since its 2018 launch.
