Sberbank Plans Crypto Wallet Launch by December as Russia Advances Digital Asset Bill

According to CoinDesk, Sberbank, Russia's largest bank, plans to add a crypto wallet and digital depository to its Sberbank Online and SberInvestments platforms by December. The rollout depends on a draft digital-currency law that passed first reading and requires further approvals, with a provisional September 1 start date. Under the bill, crypto activity would route through licensed intermediaries such as exchanges and brokers, maintaining Russia's ban on domestic crypto payments while allowing digital currencies for foreign trade and cross-border settlements. The move expands Sberbank's existing digital-asset business following its 2022 central bank license for tokenized traditional assets.
