SBI Holdings Acquires Coinhako Controlling Stake, Expanding Singapore Crypto Hub on July 16

According to SBI's official statement, SBI Holdings acquired a controlling stake in Singapore crypto platform Coinhako on July 16 after receiving Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) approval. The transaction was completed through SBI Ventures Asset, SBI's Singapore subsidiary, and included a capital injection and share purchases from existing investors. Coinhako will now operate as a consolidated subsidiary of the group.

The acquisition strengthens SBI's Asia-Pacific strategy by providing access to Coinhako's customer base and regulated operating infrastructure in Singapore. Chairman Yoshitaka Kitao stated the group aims to create a global digital asset corridor enabling cross-border transactions and connections between digital asset platforms across Japan and Southeast Asia.
