SBI Holdings Resolves to Acquire Bitbank for ¥46.7 Billion; Combined Group Projected to Oversee ¥1.1 Trillion in Assets

According to Tokyo Stock Exchange TDnet disclosure, SBI Holdings resolved to acquire Japanese cryptocurrency exchange Bitbank for ¥46.7 billion on June 26. The transaction will be conducted through SBICAH GK, SBI's wholly owned subsidiary, with expected completion by October 2026, subject to Japan Fair Trade Commission approval.

The combined operation of Bitbank and SBI VC Trade is projected to oversee approximately ¥1.1 trillion in assets under custody across 2.92 million user accounts, creating a major domestic exchange group within one of the world's most regulated crypto markets.
