SoftBank and OpenAI Launch Cybersecurity Service for 3,000 Japanese Firms on July 14

According to SoftBank Corp., the company and OpenAI launched an AI-powered cybersecurity service in Japan on July 14, targeting 3,000 eligible companies whose systems support critical infrastructure. The service, operated through SB OAI Japan (a 50-50 joint venture between SoftBank and OpenAI), provides vulnerability assessments, diagnostic reports, remediation recommendations, and patch deployment. Assessments for a select group of customers identified approximately 280 potential vulnerabilities per 10 million lines of source code on average, with 25% classified as high risk. SoftBank plans to establish an Enterprise AI Cyber Defense Office on July 16 and deploy about 1,000 personnel to deliver the service and consulting.
