South Korea Investor Deposits Plunge 30.53 Trillion Won Since June Peak, Down 21.8%

According to Korea Financial Investment Association, on July 27, investor deposits fell to 109.17 trillion won, down 30.53 trillion won (21.8%) from the June 4 peak of 139.66 trillion won, and down 11 trillion won (9.9%) from July 1. Credit trading financing balances also declined 5.75 trillion won (15.1%) from the previous month's high, reflecting weak investor demand for leveraged positions. Through July 28, individual investors' net purchases this month totaled 15.09 trillion won, only 35.6% of June's 42.4 trillion won.
