According to Korea Economic Daily, the Korean won strengthened against the U.S. dollar to 1478.5 won on July 17-18, marking its strongest level in over two months and reflecting a 4.27% appreciation for the month—the highest among Group of Twenty currencies. The surge follows SK Hynix's listing on Nasdaq through an American Depositary Receipt (ADR) offering, which raised approximately $26.5 billion and is expected to inject significant dollar flows into the market sequentially. The won's appreciation contrasts with competing exporters like Japan (0.08% appreciation) and Taiwan (negative 1.80% depreciation) during the same period.
