According to Korea Exchange data as of July 16, South Korea's four major entertainment companies saw significant stock declines in 2026. SM Entertainment dropped 47.80%, followed by YG Entertainment (-42.89%), Hybe (-39.73%), and JYP Entertainment (-39.80%).
Securities firms attributed the weakness to macroeconomic headwinds and eroding valuation premiums in the entertainment sector, as market liquidity concentrated in semiconductors and other leading industries. However, analysts expect a potential reversal if BTS completes its world tour and BigBang's 20th anniversary comeback gain traction in the second half.
