According to the Yonhap News Agency, on July 29, South Korea's presidential policy chief Kim Yong-beom identified mounting volatility in the domestic stock market, citing factors including the DeepSeek shock, exchange-traded fund (ETF) spillovers, and variables from Chinese tech companies such as chipmakers and semiconductor equipment manufacturers. Kim noted that while market volatility is not unique to Korea, domestic market characteristics amplify the effect.
