According to Thursday announcement shared with Cointelegraph, BancaStato, the cantonal bank serving Switzerland's Italian-speaking Ticino region, launched regulated cryptocurrency trading through Sygnum's B2B banking platform. The service allows BancaStato customers to buy, sell and hold Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Litecoin (LTC) and Solana (SOL) directly via the bank's existing web and mobile banking apps.
BancaStato joins over 25 financial institutions using Sygnum's platform for regulated digital asset services. The integration connects Sygnum's API to the bank's existing Avaloq software system, eliminating the need for a separate order management system. Sygnum's European subsidiary, Sygnum Europe AG, received a Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) license from Liechtenstein's Financial Market Authority in late June, enabling faster crypto service rollouts across EU partner banks.
