Trump Renews Push for Crypto Market Structure Bill as Congress Returns to Washington

According to Trump's Truth Social post on July 13, President Donald Trump called on the Senate to pass the CLARITY Act "in honor of Senator Lindsey Graham, a big supporter," warning that China seeks control of the cryptocurrency sector.

The CLARITY Act passed the House 294–134 in July 2025 and cleared the Senate Banking Committee 15–9 in May. The bill, which would split digital asset oversight between the CFTC and SEC, requires 60 votes to pass the Senate floor. Senator Cynthia Lummis is leading the Senate effort, with updated bill text expected shortly and supporters targeting a vote before the August recess.
