According to Kyiv Independent and Moscow Times, Ukrainian forces conducted long-range drone strikes on petroleum facilities and military targets in St. Petersburg on July 4, located approximately 1,100 km from the Ukrainian border. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on social media that the strikes targeted a strategic port oil terminal generating revenue for Russia's war effort, as well as the Kronstadt naval base, situated about 850 km from the border.
The strikes have triggered widespread fuel shortages across Russia. At least 55 out of 83 Russian regions are experiencing supply restrictions at gas stations, with queues reaching approximately 5 km in length.
