US Corporate Insiders Sell Record $77.6 Billion in Stock During First Half of 2026, Up 20% YoY

According to The Kobeissi Letter, corporate insiders sold $77.6 billion in stock during the first half of 2026, marking a 20% increase from the same period in 2025 and the second-largest volume in over two decades. Insider selling outpaced buying by an 11-to-1 ratio, with purchases totaling just $6.9 billion, amid concerns over valuations, geopolitical factors, and the sustainability of AI spending.

Despite the massive insider selling, The Kobeissi Letter noted that the Technology, Media, and Telecom (TMT) sector now accounts for a record 49% of the S&P 500's market value, 9 percentage points above the 2000 dot-com bubble peak and representing the largest tech weight in the index's history.
