U.S. IPO Financing Surges to Record $125B+ on July 20, Yet Warning Signs Remain Absent

According to Goldman Sachs' July 20 Top of Mind report, U.S. IPO financing exceeded $125 billion in 2026, breaking the full-year 2021 record, with annual projections potentially surpassing $200 billion. However, IPO volumes remain modest at approximately 60 deals, significantly below the 400 deals in 1999 and 250 deals in 2021 during bubble periods, driven primarily by mega-cap tech companies. Chief U.S. equity strategist Snider noted that late-cycle warning signals have not yet emerged, with household sectors becoming net buyers and annualized IPO financing representing only 1% of the S&P 500 market capitalization. Experts observed that moderate IPO volumes, valuations below bubble levels, and controlled first-day gains indicate true danger signals have not yet materialized.
