On July 20, the USD-KRW exchange rate traded at 1,482.60 won in Seoul morning session, according to Yonhapinfomax, down from an intraday high of 1,490.60 won reached at 9:02 a.m. The currency pair was up 4.10 won from the prior close of 1,478.50 won.
The retreat was driven by risk-off sentiment following weekend military tensions between the U.S. and Iran, which elevated Middle East geopolitical risks. Meanwhile, steady dollar supply from exporter negotiations and SK Hynix ADR listings continued to support won strength against upward pressure.
