Waymo Plans to Exit Uber Robotaxi Partnership, Launching Competing Service by January 2028

Waymo, the autonomous driving division of Alphabet, is planning to terminate its Robotaxi partnership with Uber Technologies. The company has notified Uber of its intention to launch its own app-based service in Austin and Atlanta starting January 2028, ending the exclusive collaboration in these two cities. Under the existing contract, Waymo's current vehicle fleet will continue operating on Uber's platform through at least May 2028.
