Zano Transitions to Pure PoS in 2027, Reduces Block Time to 15 Seconds via Zenith Upgrade

According to ChainCatcher, Zano announced Zenith has entered implementation phase, planning a 2027 network transition to pure PoS from hybrid PoW/PoS mechanism. Block time will reduce from approximately 1 minute to 15 seconds, while confirmation requirements will drop from 10 blocks to 4-6 blocks, resulting in typical confirmation times of 60-90 seconds. The upgrade is based on over 12 years of privacy research and aims to provide modern PoS advantages while maintaining Zano's privacy protections. Following Zenith activation, the approximately 262,800 annual ZANO tokens currently issued to PoW miners will be discontinued. Activation date remains pending network-level verification.
