Gate Perpetual Futures to Add Market Order Slippage Customization

To further enhance trading safety and risk control and improve the trading experience of market orders, Gate will officially launch maximum slippage for market orders and market order slippage customization for perpetual futures. These features allow users to customize their own maximum acceptable slippage for market orders within the platform's predefined slippage limit, helping reduce the risk of abnormal executions caused by sharp market volatility or insufficient market depth.

1. Launch Time

This feature was officially launched on the Web at 11:00 (UTC) on December 29, 2025, and will be rolled out on the mobile app with version v8.2.0.

2. Feature Overview

Maximum slippage for market orders is the limit set by the platform. If the estimated slippage reaches the threshold, the order will fail to be placed or will be automatically canceled. Users can view the maximum market order slippage for each market on the Contract Details page. For more details, please refer to the Contract Order Price and Market Order Trading Limits.
Market order slippage customization allows users to customize a maximum slippage percentage when placing a market order. The custom percentage must not exceed the maximum slippage predefined by the platform for the corresponding contract market. The system will only execute trades within the custom slippage range, and any portion exceeding the limit will not be filled.

This feature is designed to help users:

• Avoid executions that deviate significantly from expectations during periods of high volatility.
• Reduce abnormal executions when market liquidity is insufficient.

3. Usage Rules

• The slippage percentage is calculated based on the market price at the time the order is placed.
• If the estimated fill price based on executable prices exceeds the preset slippage limit, the unfilled portion of the order will be canceled.
• If a user does not customize a slippage percentage, the default maximum slippage predefined by the platform will be applied.
• Slippage customization applies only to the current market order and does not affect limit orders or existing orders.

4. Example

Assume the best bid and ask prices are 100.0 and 100.1, and the slippage percentage is set to 0.1%.

Buy Orders

Maximum Acceptable Fill Price = 100.1 × (1 + 0.1%) = 100.2

Sell Orders

Minimum Acceptable Fill Price = 100.0 × (1 – 0.1%) = 99.9

5. Risk Warning

Market order slippage customization can effectively reduce execution risks under extreme market conditions. However, during periods of low liquidity or rapid price movements, orders may not be fully filled.
Users are advised to customize slippage limits prudently based on their trading strategies and risk tolerance.
