Elon Musk DOGE Annual Report: Number of US government employees decreased by about 9%, while spending increased to $7.5 trillion

Odaily Planet Daily reports that the government efficiency department led by Musk (DOGE) “conducted aggressive layoffs at the end of 2025, but failed to save money.” Data shows that U.S. government employees decreased by about 9% this year, from 3.015 million federal workers in January to 2.744 million in November. Meanwhile, as of December 19, expenditures increased from $7.135 trillion to $7.558 trillion, a nearly 6% growth.
