Jito’s new block explorer tool called IBRL.wtf is causing quite a debate within the Solana validator ecosystem. This tool is designed to assess the quality and behavior of validators by aggregating multiple key metrics into a single score, thereby highlighting some parties prioritizing personal profit over overall network performance.
Jito specifically points out the phenomenon of late packing, where validators intentionally delay including transactions into blocks to maximize rewards. According to Jito, this behavior reduces network efficiency and makes state data more unpredictable. Although Jito admits that the IBRL score is not an absolute measure, it is still considered a guiding signal for healthy behavior. Validators like Certora and Solflare score highly, while many SOL fund management organizations are criticized for low scores. However, this evaluation method still faces opposition from competing block builders.
