US media: Port strike ends, political time bomb temporarily paused

GoldenOctober2024

On October 4th, according to Politico, the large-scale strike held by American dock workers in the weeks leading up to the election posed a threat to the US Supply Chain and caused pain to consumers, but the strike ended a few days after it began. The union representing tens of thousands of dock workers and the shipping industry on the East Coast reached a preliminary agreement on wage issues and extended an expiring contract until January 15, 2025. This defused a political time bomb for the Democratic Party, which now needs all the union support it can get and cannot afford a prolonged strike, as it would make voters dissatisfied with the economy.
