Alfa-Bank Plans Digital Depository for Crypto Services Ahead of Russia's September 1 Regulatory Rollout

According to RBC Investments, Alfa-Bank, Russia's largest private bank, plans to launch its own digital depository and offer clients cryptocurrency services once the country's digital asset regulation takes effect on September 1, 2026. Chief Operating Officer Dmitry Vitman said the bank would create the depository and offer its services to other market participants as well. Retail brokerage services could follow by late 2026 or early 2027, though Vitman expects meaningful liquidity in Russia's crypto market to develop gradually, with substantial volumes not anticipated before late 2027.
