Amazon Deploys 29 More Satellites to Leo Constellation, Aiming for Initial Service Later This Year

According to CNBC, Amazon deployed 29 satellites via United Launch Alliance's Atlas V rocket early Thursday (July 3), bringing its Leo low-earth orbit satellite constellation to over 390 units. The company said the deployed satellites are sufficient to deliver continuous service in initial coverage areas, paving the way for the planned launch of Amazon Leo's initial service later this year. The milestone puts Amazon in direct competition with SpaceX's Starlink, which has roughly 10,000 satellites in orbit and over 10 million subscribers.
