Danube River at Budapest Hits Historic Low of 27 Centimeters on July 28

According to Jin10, Hungary's water authority reported on July 28 that the Danube River at Budapest fell to 27 centimeters, breaking the previous record low of 33 centimeters set on October 25, 2018. The extreme drought across Europe has forced shipping restrictions on the Danube, with multiple river sections now unable to accommodate cargo and passenger vessels. Further water level decline could lead to a complete halt of navigation on the waterway.
