Eurozone Private Sector Activity Hits 5-Month High at 51.9 PMI in July, Exceeds Forecast

According to S&P Global, Eurozone private sector activity rose to 51.9 in July, exceeding the consensus forecast of 50.2 and marking the highest level in five months. The composite PMI broke above the 50 threshold—indicating expansion—for the first time since March. Germany's index unexpectedly surged above 50, ending three consecutive months of contraction, while France's index rose near the 50 level. However, S&P Global's chief economist Chris Williamson warned that geopolitical tensions, rising oil prices, and shipping concerns pose downside risks to sustaining this recovery.
