Intel, AMD Face Extended CPU Delivery Times as Stock Prices Surge Amid AI Demand

According to industry sources on July 3, Intel and AMD are experiencing significant CPU shortages, with delivery times extending to six months for Intel and eight to ten weeks for AMD. Intel's stock has surged over 480% in the past year as the chip shortage drives structural growth for both companies.

Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger noted on June 18 that enterprise customers are purchasing CPUs and GPUs in a 4-to-1 ratio, indicating heavy demand for data center workloads. Major cloud providers have begun signing long-term supply agreements (LTAs) to secure CPU supplies, mirroring patterns seen in the memory market. Bank of America projects the global server CPU market will grow from $43 billion in 2026 to $125 billion by 2030, while Citigroup forecasts the specialized CPU segment will expand at a 185% annual rate, reaching $59.4 billion by 2030.
