According to Iran's semi-official Farsnews agency, Iran's Central Command warned on July 27 (local time) that continued U.S. naval blockade in the region could result in military escalation. The command stated that over the past three days, the U.S. has threatened Iranian vessels, merchant ships, and tankers in Iran's coastal waters and territorial sea, and warned that such actions would be considered an expansion of regional conflict. Iran's military vowed to respond with action to any hostile acts without exception. The U.S. military has maintained a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz since July 14, halting all shipping to and from Iran.
