Japan Issues FY2026 Economic Report Citing Geopolitical Inflation and Labor Challenges on July 24

According to Japan's Cabinet Office, the government released its FY2026 (April 2026–March 2027) economic report on July 24, citing multiple recovery challenges. The report attributed input inflation pressures partly to Middle East tensions, which have driven up international oil prices and raised costs for petroleum, coal, and chemical products throughout supply chains. Structural issues including labor shortages compound the headwinds. Rising import costs risk eroding corporate profits and increasing household living expenses. The report also noted Japan's potential economic growth rate remains at a low level.
