Plaintiffs Drop 44 Bitcoin Addresses From Lawsuit After On-Chain Activity Detected

According to Galaxy's Alex Thorn on July 8, the plaintiffs behind a New York lawsuit seeking legal title to dormant Bitcoin wallets dropped 44 addresses from their original claim after on-chain activity contradicted their abandonment assertions.

The 44 removed addresses held 21,443 BTC when the case was filed and subsequently moved 46,334 BTC on-chain while remaining named defendants. One address inactive for nearly 15 years transferred 30 BTC during the lawsuit, further undermining the dormancy argument. The complaint explicitly stated that addresses showing on-chain activity would be removed from the defendant list.
