Ripple UBRI Expands to 60+ Universities, Advancing Blockchain Research in AI and Tokenization

According to Ripple, the company's University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI) has expanded its academic network to 60+ university partners as of July 2026, marking significant growth since its 2018 launch. The initiative provides participating universities with funding, technical support, educational resources, and collaboration opportunities to accelerate blockchain research and practical applications in digital finance and infrastructure.

UBRI research priorities now focus on three key areas: the intersection of artificial intelligence and blockchain technology, tokenization of real-world assets such as securities and real estate, and post-quantum cryptography. Ripple stated that the expansion reflects growing recognition of academic institutions' role in shaping blockchain innovation, with participating universities expected to prepare the next generation of professionals for careers in distributed systems and digital financial infrastructure.
