Russia Delays Crypto Trading Bill Until After September Parliamentary Elections

According to PANews, Russia's State Duma Finance Committee chairman Anatoly Aksakov announced on July 17 that legislation imposing criminal penalties for illegal cryptocurrency trading will be postponed until after the September 20 parliamentary elections. The bill, which passed its first reading in early July, prescribes fines and up to seven years imprisonment for unauthorized crypto transactions. Penalties are set to take effect on July 1, 2027.
