Samsung Establishes Robotics Division Under CEO, Plans Humanoid Sample in H2

According to IBK Investment Securities analyst Kim Hye-bin, Samsung Electronics officially established the RX (Robotics eXperience) Business Promotion Division under CEO Ro Tae-mun on July 22, consolidating previously scattered robotics capabilities. The company appointed Lee Dong-gun, a former Hyundai Motor executive who oversaw Boston Dynamics operations, as head of robotics strategy. Samsung plans to integrate robotics talent at its Woomen R&D campus in Seoul and build a data factory for robotics learning in Gumi. The company will also establish global research hubs in the United States, China, and Japan.

Samsung plans to expand cooperation with subsidiary Rainbow Robotics and pursue additional M&A and AI company investments. The company is expected to debut humanoid prototypes in the second half of 2026.
