Senate Republicans Plan Clarity Act Vote Next Week, Need 7 Democratic Votes to Reach 60-Vote Threshold

According to Bloomberg, on July 22, Senate Republicans plan to push forward a vote on the Clarity Act, a digital asset regulation bill, as soon as next week. Senate Republican Leader John Thune stated that negotiations with Democrats have not been finalized, but the vote will proceed regardless of agreement.

The bill requires 60 votes to pass the Senate, and Republicans hold insufficient seats alone. This means at least 7 Democratic senators must vote in favor. Democrats remain divided on ethics provisions, with some members demanding clarification on conflict-of-interest rules for public officials handling digital assets and enforcement mechanisms.
