South Korea Detects 7.2 Trillion Won in Illegal FX Transactions in H1 2026

According to Jin10, South Korea's Customs Service detected illegal foreign exchange transactions valued at 7.2 trillion won (approximately $4.92 billion) during the first half of 2026. The agency identified 792 FX violation cases from January to June involving illegal remittance of funds abroad and concealment of overseas assets. Some cases involved export companies receiving export payments in cryptocurrency rather than traditional currencies such as the US dollar.
