South Korea's 2026 Economic Growth Forecast Raised to 2.6% on July 8, Up 0.7%p

According to the Asian Development Bank (ADB), which released its Asia Development Outlook (ADO) report on July 8, South Korea's economic growth forecast for 2026 was raised from 1.9% to 2.6%, an upward revision of 0.7 percentage points. The ADB also increased its 2027 growth forecast to 2.0%, up 0.1 percentage point. The upgrades reflect stronger-than-expected Q1 growth and the buffering effects of government measures in response to Middle East developments, according to South Korea's Ministry of Economy and Finance. The ADB cited increased global AI demand-driven exports as a key growth driver for 2026-2027, while noting that semiconductor sector momentum is expected to offset headwinds from rising energy prices.
