According to Reuters, President Trump called aboard Air Force One for the Federal Reserve to slash interest rates significantly, arguing the United States should boast the world's lowest borrowing costs. "Rates should be lowered. We have other countries that are paying less interest rates. We should have the lowest interest rate in the world," Trump said. Current benchmark rates sit around 3.5 to 3.75 percent. Trump praised Fed Chair Kevin Warsh but criticized other board members as "very political." The Fed has held rates steady in recent meetings despite the president's public pressure.
