According to New York Times, citing U.S. intelligence officials, the U.S. intelligence community assessed on July 25 that Iran's new Supreme Leader Mujtaba has greater nuclear ambitions than his predecessor Khamenei, who previously vowed to forgo nuclear weapons development. Although Mujtaba has not publicly called for nuclear weapons development, U.S. intelligence officials believe he and the subsequent hardline government have aspirations to develop advanced nuclear weapons.
