Brazil Freezes $2 Billion in Assets Including Cryptocurrency in U.S. Sanctions Operation

According to Bloomberg, Brazilian federal police froze approximately $2 billion in assets including cryptocurrency today (July 4) in coordinated enforcement action backed by U.S. Treasury sanctions. The operation included 11 arrest warrants and 13 search-and-seizure actions targeting money laundering networks tied to organized crime. One of the two targeted individuals, Stella Stefanie Nunes Henrique de Oliveira, was arrested; the other, Victor Henrique de Oliveira Shimada, remains at large. The suspects allegedly moved criminal proceeds through multiple channels including cryptocurrency transfers, cash shipments, and large account transfers.
