Claude Code Versions 2.1.91–2.1.196 Contain Security Backdoor, MIIT Warns on July 8

According to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), Claude Code (versions 2.1.91–2.1.196), an AI programming tool developed by U.S.-based Anthropic, contains a security backdoor vulnerability detected on July 8. The tool transmits sensitive user information, including location and identity data, to remote servers without user consent through built-in monitoring mechanisms. MIIT recommends immediate audits of affected development endpoints and upgrading to the latest patched versions.
