Miles Guo Sentenced to 30 Years for $10 Billion Fraud Scheme

According to BlockBeats, on July 1, Miles Guo (also known as Ho Wan Kwok) was sentenced to 30 years in prison. Guo was convicted by a jury in 2024 on charges including extortion, fraud, and money laundering. Prosecutors said Guo defrauded global victims of over $10 billion across a series of related schemes spanning five years.

In 2021, Guo promoted a cryptocurrency project called Himalaya Coin (H-Coin), claiming it was backed by 20% gold reserves and promising to cover all investor losses. The project raised approximately $500 million.
