Ransomware Attacks Surge 33% in H1 2026, Reaching $124M in Losses, CertiK Reports

According to CertiK's latest report, 52 ransomware attacks occurred in the first half of 2026, representing a 33% increase from 39 incidents in H1 2025. Financial losses totaled approximately $124 million, compared to $10.5 million a year earlier.

Geographically, attacks concentrated heavily in Europe, accounting for 39 of the 52 confirmed incidents, with France alone representing 33 cases. The report noted a significant surge in crypto-related burglaries, rising from 1 reported case in H1 2025 to 20 in H1 2026.
